Just another topic

The first Nba season began in 1946 has grown and changed a lot over the past 65 years. When the game first began there was no three point line the game was played by only two pointers. The initial rules for the nba that were chosen in 1945 were each team played a 60 game schedule followed by playoffs of the top 3 teams in each division, all games were 48 minutes long, all players were allowed 6 personal fouls, every time a team score the other team got the ball back, and zone defenses are allowed. Now they have added things to change the game dramatically over the years like lengthening the lane from 6 feet to 12 feet because of the dominant play by a player named George Mikan and then later lengthened again from 12 to 16 feet because of Wilt Chamberlain. In 1979 they added the 3 point line that was 22 feet from the basket in the corners and 23 feet from the basket at the top of the key.( lane ) They lengthened the season to 82 games now and changed the 3 point line to an even 22 feet all the way around the basket. Players are only allowed 5 fouls before they are out of the game and of coarse the apparel has changed to much longer shorts. There has been a ton of rule changes, way to many to list on here but if you would like to see all of them here is a link for the web site that I found all of them on. http://www.nba.com/analysis/rules_history.html
